Learn, Help, Have Fun

I have always been a huge advocate of helping the refugees who have fled the Darfur region of the Sudan.

I’m not exactly sure how much U.S. military involvement I would support, but I do know that something has to be done. Someone needs to step up. U.S. military, UN, Peace Corps, someone…

No human being should be treated this way. No one should have to live in fear. Women should be able to go collect wood for a fire without the fear of being raped or murdered. It needs to stop.

There will be an educational mock-refugee camp in Schenectady on Sunday
where visitors can learn about what it’s actually like to be a refugee–they will set up huts, cook on solar range tops, etc… They can also get information to write letters to congressmen and learn about Sudanese culture through song, dance, and food.

I ask that if you’re in the Capital Region on Sunday you stop by Schenectady’s Central Park at 2pm and show your support.

Let’s help these people. We’re all outraged by the Holocaust, how is this any different. They need our support.
