Writer’s Block

The Bible

As I’m sitting here, staring blankly at the blinking cursor on Google Docs (trying, in vain, to write my newest Next Great Generation article), I keep thinking about one thing: the AP Style snafu I found in The New York Times today. I guess writer’s block makes me dwell on the insignificant shortcomings of publications I envy.

ANYWAY.

I was reading The Times today and in two separate articles they wrote “Web site” which would have been correct (as per AP Style) if they hadn’t recently changed it to “website.” Was this an oversight or is The New York Times just impervious to change? I mean, they DO reject the word “tweet.”

I just don’t understand and it’s been bothering me all day.

If blogs required a Twitter hashtag, this one would get #nerd.

I suspect it’s a genuine error but I know the nyt does have its own stylebook. So you never know…maybe they like it that way?

The Times doesn’t use AP. They have their own style guide.
